TD Record

Filed under: Football, Sports — Malcolm @ 3:30

For all the talk about how the baseball HR record will be tainted when Bonds surpasses Aaron, I have heard zero talk about how the NFL’s TD record will be cheapened when Favre passes Marino. Now, I know there are no PED rumours swirling about Favre, but lets not forget the far more important issue: Brett Favre is inferior. Dan Marino was an awesomely great QB. Brett Favre, well, is pretty good, but seriously, who thinks Favre is better than Marino? Besides people who live in Wisconsin. And come on, they live in Wisconsin.

Thank god Peyton Manning will destroy whatever Favre ends up pushing the record to. Then at least the record will be back in the hands of greatness. Now if you’ll excuse me, Favre just threw another interception so I have to go back to my jig.

Craziness

Carlos Lee for 6Y and $100M? Wow. Just ridiculous.
Juan Pierre for 5Y and $44M? Also dumb.
Alfonso Soriano for 8Y and $136M? Amazingly dumb.

Man, I didn’t think anything would ever top Alfonso’s terrible contract until Juan Pierre signed. Then I couldn’t believe the Angels would be so dumb as to give Matthews, a guy who’s been released three times in the past, such a ludicrous contract. And today came Carlos Lee. Wow. Just wow.

I still can’t get over Matthews though. The Angels were getting the exact same production from Chone Figgins who they already had under contract for a little over $3M. But instead, they decided to make their CF 3 years older, hand him a new 5Y commitment, and give him a $7M raise. For no reason. Gary Mathews Jr. is no better than Chone Figgins. In fact, when you factor in stolen bases, he’s almost certainly worse.

I’ve said it before, and few believed me, and I’m saying it again: Bill Stoneman is not a good GM.

Justin Morneau is the AL MVP

Filed under: Baseball, media, Sports — Malcolm @ 14:24

Big whoop.

However, buried within the ESPN.com Article is this gem:

The 14-point difference between Morneau and Jeter was the 10th closest in the AL since 1983.

So, in the last 22 MVP races, this was the TENTH closest. WOW!!! Remarkable!

Next-Gen Soccer Games Fucking Blow

Filed under: Sports, Video Games, xbox 360 — Malcolm @ 2:32

All I wanted was FIFA ’05 with better gameplay. That’s all you had to do EA or Konomi, but noooooooo, you had to strip away all the licenses. Well, fuck you guys. Sure as hell glad I didn’t pay any money for your game. Entertaining though it may be when drunk, you have provided me with no sense of a single-player experience thanks to no immersability within the campaign mode.

Also, seriously, the AI has big flaws in it. Do you not have beta testers or do you just not listen to them?

Where the Hell is FIFA ’07?

Filed under: Sports, Video Games, xbox 360 — Malcolm @ 1:10

The title pretty much says it all. Dammit, I want to be diverted from my work and there are very few methods that I prefer over playing football. Especially when it’s finally a next-gen game that I can enjoy in glorious Hi-Def on my amazingly awesome TV. I love my TV. I would love to be playing football on my lovely TV.

Where the hell is my game?!?!
